The Ms.Fits logged in this week with 44 hours and 35 minutes of activity this week, for an average of more than four hours for each team member. As a team they shed an impressive seven pounds. Their experience shows that there are plenty of ways to become more active, from walking and climbing stairs during work breaks to going to the gym or working out with WiiFit. Another lesson they’ve learned: weight loss occurs in fits and starts. When you’re working toward slimming down and becoming fitter, it’s important to keep your eyes on the long-term goal and not get discouraged.

A new zest for life

My name is Jenn. A year ago I found myself tired and less likely to participate in the activities I enjoyed. I realized that my weight had begun to interfere with my enjoyment of life. I began a program of eating correctly by counting my carbs, joining a gym, and exercising regularly. I lost 35 pounds last year and found a new zest for life. Additionally I found new activities such as walking, weight lifting and exercising with Wii Fit game system that I truly enjoyed. The hardest part is getting off the couch, but once I did, the rewards began almost immediately. Participating in Live Healthy Iowa is a natural extension of my weight loss program.
